Testing and quality control

Every unit is run on a test bench for opening pressure, back leakage and spray pattern before it is packed. Injectors that fail any of these checks are rejected instead of being reworked, because a reworked nozzle does not hold its calibration in service.

The nozzle body is stainless steel and the solenoid and connector are sealed against diesel and engine bay heat. The injector is supplied dry, so the fuel system has to be primed after installation.

Installation notes

Replace the copper washer and the fuel line seals at the same time, clean the injector seat in the cylinder head, and torque the clamp bolt to the figure given by the vehicle manufacturer. Never reuse a crushed washer, because a poor seat lets combustion gas past the nozzle and overheats the injector.

On common rail engines the new injector normally has to be coded to the ECU with a diagnostic tool. The coding value is printed on the injector label. Without coding the ECU keeps the correction values of the old injector and the engine may idle rough or smoke.

Packing, delivery and warranty

Each injector is packed in its own foam lined box and shipped in neutral outer cartons. Lead time is 3-7 days for stock quantities and longer for larger orders. Mixed orders of the 0445110646 and 0445110647 family can be shipped together.

Warranty is 6 months against manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by contaminated fuel, water in the fuel system, incorrect coding, or a failing high pressure pump that sends debris through the injector. Flush the fuel system if the old injector failed mechanically.
