All our engines are Dynamometer Bench Tested before delivery, not Conventional Hot Run-in Test.
Advantages of Engine Dynamometer Bench Test vs. Conventional Hot Run-in Test
Engine dynamometer bench testing outperforms ordinary hot run-in tests in multiple aspects:
Precise control of working conditionsThe dynamometer can accurately apply and adjust load and torque at target rotational speeds. It simulates idle, partial load, full load and cyclic driving conditions, and supports external characteristic and universal characteristic tests. In contrast, conventional hot run-in mostly runs under no-load or light-load conditions with only rough speed adjustment, unable to impose defined torque.
Quantitative data acquisition & traceable test reportsThe bench system continuously collects real-time data including speed, torque, power, fuel consumption, exhaust temperature, oil pressure, vibration and noise. Test curves and formal records can be generated for comparison and certification. Hot run-in mainly relies on manual inspection for oil leakage, abnormal noise and basic temperature check, which is qualitative without precise, repeatable data logs.
Higher stress screening to expose hidden defectsHot run-in only performs mild running-in, so many high-load failures such as high-temperature leakage, cylinder scuffing, bearing damage and turbocharger faults cannot be triggered. Dynamometer bench tests can carry out full-load durability, thermal shock and overspeed tests to push engines to extreme operating limits and reveal assembly or component defects in advance.
Controlled test environment & good repeatabilityEquipped with intake air conditioning and constant-temperature cooling systems, the bench stabilizes intake temperature, humidity and pressure to eliminate environmental interference. Test results are highly repeatable for comparison among different engines. Traditional hot run-in is heavily affected by workshop ambient conditions, leading to poor consistency of test results.
Supports emission measurement and ECU calibrationThe dynamometer bench can connect with emission analyzers to test exhaust pollutants and support ECU calibration and fuel injection optimization for new engine development and certification, which is not achievable by simple hot run-in.
Comprehensive safety interlock protectionThe bench control system has automatic protection interlocks for overspeed, over-temperature, low oil pressure and knock, which will reduce load or shut down the engine automatically in emergencies. Hot run-in only adopts simple monitoring, with higher risks of runaway or pipeline rupture.
Engine dynamometer bench test enables precise load control, quantitative data recording, extreme condition screening and emission & calibration verification. Compared with conventional hot run-in which only conducts light-duty running-in and manual visual check, bench test can expose hidden high-load defects and provide certified test data for product validation and export compliance.
